As shown in the figure above, it is necessary to carry out a visual inspection on the ceramic exhaust filter holes. The testing product is cordierite ceramic, which is used for automotive exhaust filtration. The detection requirement is that if a blockage occurs, through visual inspection, the coordinates of the blockage point are output, the ventilation system is controlled, and the blockage point is blown through.
When taking pictures with a high-resolution camera and a lens, Vistech technicians found a serious problem. Due to the large thickness of the product, ordinary light sources and lenses could not be transmitted at all. The results were barely as follows:

Obviously, such an image cannot meet the detection requirements. Does the detection task fail? Due to the lens's own parallel light design, when used with parallel light sources, parallax can be eliminated and the problem of mutual occlusion is solved. After replacing the telecentric lens on the original vision system, the shooting effect is as follows:

The project quickly completed the acceptance and was well received by customers. However, this event left a deep impression on the vision technicians. The telecentric lens, a special optical product, undoubtedly provides a brand-new idea for many product solutions that cannot be solved by vision in the past. The errors caused by thickness and parallax can be corrected by the telecentric lens. The demand for precise detection is the application of telecentric lenses.
